Dominion also owns and operates a portfolio of energy infrastructure assets, including interstate pipelines and a liquefied natural gas terminal.
Roots of the company trace back to the Virginia Electric & Power Company, founded in 1909. In 1983, it reorganized as Dominion Resources to serve as a diversified energy holding company. In 2017, the organization adopted the Dominion Energy name to reflect its primary focus on electricity and natural gas delivery, as well as its growing investments in renewable and low-carbon energy sources.
Dominion Energy’s regulated utilities serve more than seven million electric and natural gas customers in states such as Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Tennessee. Beyond its core utility operations, the company’s infrastructure segment operates an extensive network of interstate natural gas pipelines and operates the Cove Point LNG export terminal in Maryland, supporting domestic supply and international markets.
